Birds of Britain and Beyond

While books on natural history tended to focus on exotic birds from distant locations, Victorian magazines were more likely to print images of the sort of birds their readers might encounter at home. Hence, this collection brings you the birds that British (and American) readers were most likely to see: songbirds, water birds, owls, raptors, cage birds such as parrots, even homing pigeons. Magazines often did bring their readers images of more exotic avians, however - hence the "beyond" in this collection, which also includes a fair number of ostriches, condors, and other feathered friends that were not likely to be seen in British or American skies! This collection brings you dozens of beautiful bird illustrations by renowned animal artist Harrison Weir, as well as 64 full-color prints, including 28 gorgeous fully edited prints from The Illustrated London Almanack. Let it give wings to your next art project!
