Draper's Self-Culture, Vol. 6 - 1913
Sports, Pastimes, and Physical Culture
Home > About Our Magazines > Miscellaneous Magazines > Draper's Self-Culture
Technically, this is not a "Victorian" publication. It's part of an extensive series of educational volumes published in America in 1913. The founder of the series was Andrew Sloan Draper, LLD. However, though the volume itself was printed after the Victorian era, the rules of the various games and sports that are cited therein are drawn directly from Victorian times. Here you'll find instructions on the parlor games that Victorians enjoyed, and guidelines for sports set down in the 19th century. Since this is such an excellent reference to the sports and recreations of the 19th century, we felt it worth including despite its publication date!
