Good Words 1902
Home > About Our Magazines > Miscellaneous Magazines > Good Words 1902
|
Good Words was launched in 1860 by evangelical Norman MacLeod, who remained its editor until 1872. William Holman Hunt edited the magazine from 1872-1910. Though the magazine had a strong Christian focus, it also included many general interest articles and stories. In 1906 it merged with Sunday Magazine to form Good Words & Sunday Magazine. This issue, from 1902, was particularly interesting for its special section containing "Coronation Odes" for the upcoming coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The magazine sponsored a competition, publishing the three best odes in this addendum, along with some marvelous artwork depicting the tributes of the British colonies. A number of volumes are available on Archive.org; search on "Good Words" + "Normal MacLeod" (or "William Holman Hunt") for best results.
