Whether you were planning a weekend holiday at the seaside or a lengthy ocean voyage, Victorian magazines offered tips on how to make the best and the most of your journey. By the 1880's, advances in rail travel had made it possible for nearly anyone to journey about the country with ease, relative comfort, and speed. This section looks at articles offering basic advice on how to travel - how to prepare for travel, what to expect on the way, what to pack, what to wear, and so forth. Since a journey by ship could take days or weeks, such advice was certainly useful!
